How does a clothes dryer cause a fire?
Lint buildup can cause a fire problem in the home.
Lint from your clothes will start to line the exhaust of your dryer. The lint continues to accumulate and dry out with each use. When the lint is extremely dry the heat from the dryer is hot enough for the lint to spontaneously combust.
The fire will start in the lint trap and pull oxygen from the exhaust. There is enough dry lint in the tubing for the fire to smolder causing the dryer to catch eventually. Even if the dryer doesn't catch on fire the smoke damage will be extensive throughout the home.
